Downtown Albany leaders say 2014 could be a promising year for the area's revitalization efforts.

Downtown Manager Aaron Blair will give the 2013 report of downtown growth and development Monday. He said most of 2013 didn't bring business leaders hoped to see on the area, but said the year had a strong ending.

"[At] the tail end of 2013, the private sector really started to come up to bat," said Blair. "So that was a plus, and stressing that this is about the private sector. The private sector is gonna lead the way."

Blair said multiple projects are in the works, like a proposed Waffle House on one block. He said creating more residential units is essential to generating more foot traffic, and remains to be a chief struggle in downtown.

He will discuss development efforts and use of funds at 6pm in the Flint Riverquarium's Imagination Theater.
