GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Gaffney native Ali Henderson might not have made it to the American Idol finale this season, but she's won a major honor here in the Upstate.

Henderson said she was selected as Nashville Connections Artist winner at the Nashville Connections music competition in Greenville Friday.

On Saturday Henderson said she performed as the opening act for Austin Webb at the weekend-long event held at the Hyatt Regency.

Later Saturday, Henderson accepted her award on the red carpet.

The 16-year-old Henderson was cut from American Idol on Feb. 6.

She said she made connections with several industry professionals at Nashville Connections who she is looking forward to working with.

Nashville Connections is an annual event offering local aspiring musicians the chance to network with and learn from music legends, producers and technicians during several scheduled events.
