ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Some distinguished High School Students are recognized for their hard work.

The Exchange Club of Albany presented six high school seniors with scholarships for their academic achievements Friday.

Courtney Shirley from Lee County High was named Youth of the Year and earned a one-thousand dollar scholarship.

"I have loved giving back to my community and I'm very studious in my studies and so I'm very proud to receive this award," she said.

"My counselor brought it to my attention about two months ago, that they were giving scholarships to students. I'm just really glad that the Exchange Club is giving back to the community and giving back to the students," said Malcolm  Danmola of  Albany High.

Each of the other finalists got a $200 scholarship.
