CORDELE, GA (WALB) -

Crisp County Sheriff Billy Hancock has filed to run in November's special election.

Hancock was sworn in as Sheriff on Monday after the death of Donnie Haralson.

"There is no reason for a lot of change," he said.  "There is no reason for personnel changes.  There is no reason for a lot of policy changes.  We just need to do what we are doing and do what we are good at putting the people of this community first.  Making them a safe place to live."

Qualifying for the Crisp County Sheriff's Special Election will begin on June 23rd for the special election to fill the remaining two years of Haralson's term.
