MITCHELL CO., GA (WALB) -

The attorney for one former Autry State Prison guard accused of abusing inmates says his client is innocent, and denies all accusations against him.

Davis is one of five Autry State prison guards arrested and fired.

Eddie King, Darius Knight, Deltonio Scott, Kevin Davis, and Steven Alexander are accused of abusing multiple inmates at Autry State Prison.

"He intends to plea not guilty and also, we don't know what the evidence is and we won't know until the process unfolds," said Davis' attorney Maurice King.

Davis is charged with battery and tampering with evidence.

Scott and Knight are also charged with battery. Eddie King is charged with simple assault. Stephen Alexander is charged with tampering with evidence. All are charged with violation of oath.

"They are just allegations," said King. "As I understand the law, a process that has to be followed before the allegations can even go to a court so we're going to hold the state to their burden of proof in this case."

Records show in one incident on February 8th, Davis, Darius Knight, and Deltonio Scott hit an inmate several times, giving him a busted lip, and that Eddie King tried to punch the same inmate, but missed.

The investigation conducted by the Georgia Department of Corrections found that Davis had Stephen Alexander destroy the video recordings of the assault.

Meanwhile all five suspects are free on bond. The other guards declined to comment on the case. Officials said the investigation is ongoing.
