Spurlock murder suspect still in Florida

ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

A fifth suspect in a December east Albany murder remains in jail in Florida, as we learn new details about his arrest.

The sister-in-law of murder victim Jamey Spurlock today says the family is very thankful Demonta Price is finally off the streets, and they hope all the suspects go to trial soon.

Demonta Price was denied bond during an initial appearance before a judge in Leon County, Florida today. He was arrested yesterday after U.S. Marshals tracked him to a hotel in Tallahassee.

Price had been on the run since December 22nd when Jamey Spurlock was murdered. As soon as they found out about the arrest, Albany Police investigators went to Tallahassee and interviewed price who was then booked into the Leon County Jail.

"Well, it means that were probably be moving forward with the general investigation and takes steps to a point where we can go to trial," District Attorney Greg Edwards.

Spurlock was gunned down after getting a flat tire on a dirt road in East Albany.

Price's two brothers and two other suspects are already in jail charged with murder. Two of them were on house arrest for previous charges and managed to disable their ankle monitors at the time of the murder.

The State Attorney's office in Leon County is not sure when a hearing on extradition will be held.
