A Better Mid-South: Faith in Action, Memphis Cleanup

Editorial by Tracey Rogers, Action News 5 general manager:

(WMC-TV) - I have two questions for you today.

Question number one: How many times have you complained about litter and blight in our community?

Question number two: How many times have you done something about litter and blight in our community?

Now, you and I have the chance to do something about it.

Memphis Mayor A C Wharton is organizing a three day weekend in which you can make a difference in the City of Memphis.

Mayor Wharton is looking for 10,000 people to volunteer to help with this clean up. Just call it spring cleaning on steroids.

You can sign up to be a part of this huge effort at MIFA or online, click here: http://www.faithinactionmemphis.com/

In fact, I'm so inspired to do something I've asked my friends here at WMC to join a team. The way I see it, we don't just report on the community, we are part of it.

Are you going to take part in the city-wide cleanup? Tell me why or why not by emailing abettermidsouth@wmctv.com or go on Facebook and like my page.

Complaining may spark change, but we have to earn the right to do so. So, let's all grab a garbage bag and help to make this A Better Mid-South.
