VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) -

A Valdosta man is out of the hospital and behind bars now after police say he assaulted an officer.

Police responded to a report of a drug deal in the 600 block of Old Hudson Street about one o'clock Tuesday afternoon.

They say when 42-year-old Willie Hunter shoved an officer... A K-9 officer bit Hunter who then ran across the street and tried to hide under a porch.

"Well, I was sittin' here on the porch. I just saw a boy run from that way across here," said Catherine Obell, who lives next door to the house where Hunter ran to. "After while, they brought a dog and the cops come up here."

Neither the officer nor the dog was injured.
