Cable, phone lines cut by farm equipment accident

ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Cable and telephone lines are back up at a busy Dougherty County intersection after farm equipment tore them down.

Around 11:00AM, a farmer was moving equipment from one field to another on Leary Road when the equipment snagged a telephone line and brought down wires.

Police urge drivers to be cautious as more farming equipment will be on the roads as the weather gets nicer.

"You need to be aware there's going to be more farming equipment out here, more farmers moving their equipment between fields.  and the big thing is not only do the citizens out here need to be leery of it, but also some of this equipment, you have to watch the lines that are over because this equipment was never meant to be on roadways, it's meant to be on fields," said DCP Capt. Tom Jackson.

Traffic was backed up and re-routed at the intersection of Leary Road and Old Pretoria Road.     The area was cleared within a few hours.
