600 students to attend GeekFest

VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) -

Wiregrass Georgia Technical College will be hosting the 5th Annual Geekfest  on Thursday, March 13th. This is an event to showcase computer science related careers and programs. 

More than 600 area high school students are signed up to attend this all day event from 9am to 3pm on the Valdosta Campus of Wiregrass Georgia Tech.  

Students will be able to rotate through activities at their own pace that will give them a chance to get hands-on experience in computer related career pathways. Activities will show students computer programming, networking , information security systems, gaming technology, and much more.  

Students from Coffee High School, Fitzgerald High School, Lowndes High School, Valdosta High School, Cook High School, Berrien High School, Georgia Christian, and Lanier High School are scheduled to attend the event. 

Event sponsors include Best Buy,  Georgia Power, ELead, KFC, and Adcap Technologies.   The event is from 9am to 3pm and will be held in Lowndes Hall on the Valdosta Campus.
