(WMC-TV) – A car believed to have been stolen during a shooting that killed a man Sunday night was located Monday morning. Police say the man who was shot to death was trying to sell the car.

The shooting happened around 11 p.m. at the Sycamore Lake Apartments.

The man trying to sell his black 2006 Ford Mustang was showing it to several men when police say those men shot him several times and stole the car.

"It appears he was trying to sell his vehicle. He had some individuals who were looking at the vehicle," said Major Jeff Tow with MPD. "Our witnesses have all said they saw the vehicle leave at a high rate of speed."

The car was spotted by an MPD officer in the area of North Trezevant Street and Corning Avenue around 9:30 a.m. Monday. When the officer tried to pull the driver over, two men bailed out and ran away.

Despite having the police helicopter overhead and dozens of officers on the ground, the suspects were not found.

If you know anything that can help police solve this case call Crime Stoppers at 901-528-CASH or go to the Crime Stoppers website at: http://memphis.crimestoppersweb.com/
