Family and friends remember Rosie Gaskins

Family and friends of Rosie Gaskins walked down Main Street in Willacoochee Friday night to remember a woman many say had a smile that would light up a room.

"it's been a long four years, and today has been real hard, and I don't expect it to get any easier as time goes by," said Mattie Courdle, Rosie's mother.

Four years ago today, investigators discovered Gaskins' body in her car in Willacoochee. Her mother, Mattie remembers the day she got that horrible news, she was at church that morning.

"Unbelievable, it was unbelievable what I felt right then, when he said Rosie, I knew what he was going to say next," said Courdle.

That news changed her life and the lives of Rosie's three daughters forever.

"Some days it's kind of easy, but some days it ain't, and this little one right here she cries herself to sleep every night missing her momma," said Courdle.

Gracie was overcome by tears tonight, thinking about her mother.

"This right here, tearing these babies apart, this is what the person done that shot my baby," said Courdle.

The person who murdered Rosie Gaskins has never been caught.

"The weapon has never been found, we have been told there was a suspect, there is no names nothing like that, but there was a suspect," said Courdle.

Rosie's mother is just asking for one thing.

"I want the person to come forward, I want anyone that knows anything about it, I want justice to be done, I want him to be punished," said Courdle.

But as they released balloons with messages of love and loss, Friday night was a night to remember Rosie.
