ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

A popular play is raising money for Albany's Liberty House shelter.

It's called "The Vagina Monologues." The production is put on by Albany State University and Darton College, and is part of a global effort to raise awareness and stop domestic violence.

"Also [it can] help someone who might be in that situation and [they] don't really realize it," explained Assistant Director Keisha Massey. "But maybe if they hear the production or maybe a family member or friend sees the production and say hey, this sounds like something that you might be going through and they can reach out to us for help."

"The Vagina Monologues" runs Friday and Saturday night at 8 p.m. at the ACAD auditorium at ASU.

Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students.

WALB's Tara Herrschaft and Troy Washington also star in the play.
