Aim to book at least 1-3 months in advance for the lowest prices
SWGA Regional Airport flyers
ALBANY, GA (WALB) -
Spring break is almost here, meaning lots of airports will be picking up traffic soon including our own Southwest Georgia Regional Airport in Albany.
We have just entered the month of March and people are already planning their spring break and summer trips. A task you should do in advance to ensure you are getting the most out of your money.
Albany travel agent, Angela Jackson, says it all comes down to "Time of year, time frame of vacation, number of members joining, scheduled activities in the area and of course budget." These are some of the key factors that will help you determine how to plan your spring break.
If you plan on skipping Panama City Beach this year and are looking to fly to elsewhere, such as, New York or LA, it's best to book it 54 days in ahead of time. CheapAir conducted a study for 2013 showing this was the time where tickets were lowest in price. And although we may have barely missed that mark you can still apply this to your summer plans.
In the same study they found that booking a ticket last minute won't give you a deal but cost you more. CheapAir says the "prime booking window" is one month or 3 and half months before you plan to depart. Experts say if you can be flexible with your dates and conduct solid research you can find cheaper deals because you can experiment with flights.
Airport director Yvette Aehle says they are expecting to see more flyers at Southwest Georgia Regional Airport in the next few weeks. She says March and April are one of their busiest times.
