Albany area Georgia Tech alumni got together at Mossy Oaks tonight to raise money for a scholarship to help a student from Dougherty or Lee County attend the school.
They're considering nine finalists now based on their grades, SAT test scores, and extracurricular involvement.
"Fortunately we've been able to keep a good club in the area and people think a lot of tech and students and want to help as much as they can," said Jake Reese, President. The winner will be chosen this month and will receive $2,000 or maybe more.
Tuesday night the alumni met former Georgia Tech basketball coach Bobby Cremins.
