LEE COUNTY, GA (WALB) -

Today is National Pancake Day at IHOP, they will be giving away free stacks of pancakes to anyone who walks through their doors and all they ask is that you donate to the Children's Miracle Network.

For customers its their time to give back, whether its $1, $10 or 50 cents, they feel today isn't about getting a free meal but helping those who need it the most.

This is the 6th year that the IHOP in Lee  County has participated in the event, their goal is to raise over $5,000 to give to the Children's Miracle Network at Phoebe Putney.  All the money that is donated today will go directly to local children who need health services.

The charity is dear to many of those at IHOP but it's also important to their customers and other members of the community. Reverend Thomas, a regular customer at the restaurant, says  supporting the cause is "just the right thing to do."

"There are so many children that are neglected and there's so many children that need help these days," Thomas said. "So we need to do what we can for our babies and do what we can for those are not able to do for the babies."

Since the program started IHOP's nationwide have collected nearly 8,000,000. Free pancakes will be given out all day.
