The SOWEGA Council on Aging's new Senior Life Enrichment Center is now fully operational.
The facility opened in January, but the kitchen wasn't finished. They had to wait for some equipment to be installed and pass a final inspection.
Workers were thrilled to use the kitchen Monday and allow volunteers with meals on wheels to pick up meals at the new center for the first time. Council on Aging Assistant Director Debbie Blanton said, "Today we cooked our fist meals in the new kitchen today, and the volunteers started arriving."
The daily senior activities and lunch, that also had not yet moved to the new facility because of the kitchen delay, are now being held at the Senior Life Enrichment Center on West Society Avenue.
