ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Keep Albany Dougherty Beautiful leaders show off their national award to county leaders. The organization took home first place for outstanding community litter prevention and waste reduction program, out of 600 Keep America Beautiful affiliates.

Monday, the executive director talked to county commissioners about the honor and praised the community for its support.

We're blessed in that this community has really embraced this program and they're...everything they do includes our environment and they've bought into the program and that's what makes it successful," said Judy Bowles, KABD Executive Director.

Bowles said volunteers gave more than 84,000 hours for clean-up last year. She said KABD will add a shoe collection program in April for those in need of footwear.
