DOUGLAS, GA (WALB) -

The National Guard in Douglas has a new Company Commander.

Captain Jonathan Kiel served as commander for three and a half years for the 848th Engineer Company. He's leaving to go and work with the 781st Joint Task Force at Dobbins Air Base. Lieutenant Ward officially took over his spot during a change of command ceremony Sunday.

"I'm going to miss it. These guys have become like family because I've been with them for so long, and we went through the deployment. It's going to be a little bit sad. I'm a little sad that I'm gone," said Capt. Jonathan Kiel.

"I'm excited. I'm looking forward to the training it's a great company. Captain Kiel has done a great job with the company up until now and I'm ready to hit the ground running," said Lt. Nicholas Ward.

Ward will serve as Commander for at least two years.
