It was great weather for this year's Albany Snickers Marathon.

More than a thousand runners crossed the finish line.

"This is actually probably the biggest sporting event that we stay involved with as far as one of our manufacturing sites. So is exciting for a site like ours to be involved in the community as be the primary sponsor, so it really fun," said Mack Phillips, Mars Chocolate Site Director, Albany.

The marathon started early at 7 a.m. and runners signed up for the 26-mile course ran for more than two hours.

"It was four hours and 4 minutes, it wasn't my best but I was glad I finished. I had a lot of fun out there, the course was great. I would definitely come back and run this course again," said runner from Atlanta.

Tifton resident Gina Purvis says she's ran the Albany half marathon eight times.

"I won third place in my age group. 1:57:04. So that's pretty good," said Purvis.

Abraham Kogo from Kenya is this year's Marathon winner, clocking in at 2 hours and 34 minutes.

"The race was good, the course was good. I like it," said Kogo.

Kogo say he didn't run his personal best and plans to train harder for the Boston Marathon.

"I cannot go next year, but I expect to go in 2016," said Kogo.

The Albany Marathon is a top 10 qualifier for the Boston marathon. Lindmila Stepanova was this year's overall female winner.

Almost 10 percent or 120 runners in the race qualified for the 2015 Boston Marathon.
