EASLEY, SC (FOX Carolina) -

A two-vehicle crash involving a state trooper with the SC Highway Patrol caused traffic delays in Pickens County on Saturday.

According to the Highway Patrol's Realtime Traffic Information board, the crash happened along US 123 near SC 153 at 11:20 a.m.

Chief Deputy Creed Hashe with the Pickens County Sheriff's Office said the driver of a Honda accord, a 23-year old female, and the trooper were both traveling north on US 123 in separate lanes when the driver of the Accord changed lanes and collided with the trooper.

Hashe said the trooper and the driver of the Accord were transported to the hospital as a precaution, but did not suffer any major injuries.

Hashe said the trooper did not have lights and sirens engaged, and that the preliminary investigation showed that the other driver was at fault.

Hashe said the driver of the Accord will likely be cited for improper lane change.

Drivers in the area said traffic was backed up to Rock Creek Road as crews investigated the incident and worked to clear the scene.
