SPARTANBURG, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Spartanburg Police Officers said bartenders and one waitress at five city restaurants were cited for serving alcohol to minors.

Officers said they conducted alcohol compliance checks Thursday night, in which they sent underage buyers into restaurants, and had them sit either at a table or at the bar and place orders for alcoholic beverages.

Officers said bartenders were cited for unlawful sale of alcohol to a minor at Willy Taco on East Main Street, Long Horn Steak House on W. O. Ezell Boulevard, and Broncos on Union Street.

Officers said a waitress was also cited unlawful sale of alcohol to a minor at Dudley's on Fernwood Glendale Rd.

A bartender at O'Charley's on East Blackstock Road was also cited with transfer of beer to a minor after officers said she served beers to underage buyers without asking to see an ID.

According to police reports, in two cased the bartender or server asked the underage buyers for their IDs and still served the drinks the minors ordered.
