One of the 1,500 runners or so racers is an Olympian from Venezuela who made a late decision to run here.
Anti-government protests continued in Venezuela Friday. The unrest forced the cancellation of a marathon there that Yolimar Pineda planned to run to qualify for the Boston Marathon.
She decided to come Albany and says she's looking forward to competing Saturday.
"She's in perfect condition to run tomorrow, she needed to find a race right away, we heard about this one, she feels 100% ready for tomorrows race," said Yolimar Pineda.Pineda represented Venezuela in the London Olympics in 2012 where she competed in the marathon.
