Habitat building on their last two lots in Albany neighborhood

Posted: Updated:
ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

The Flint River Chapter of Habitat For Humanity is looking for new property for future homes.

Habitat has helped build 145 homes in Dougherty County since 1986, many in the Woodland Oaks subdivision across from the airport.

But the two homes under construction now are on their final two lots.

Future builds may be in Lee County.

Volunteer Coordinator David Wilson said "We're looking for land. We're hoping somethings actually opens up with some partnerships in Lee County. We've been building in Dougherty County so long, so we're looking for something to open up in Lee County."

Habitat officials hope to have these final two homes completed in the next two months.

They say there is still a large demand from families seeking good affordable housing in the Albany area.
