Neighbors witness murder at Albany apartment complex

ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Albany Police have taken into custody what they call a person of interest in the murder of an Albany woman.

Police found 18-year old Dorion "tye" Revills Friday afternoon,  but tonight they say no charges have been filed against him.

31-year old Shakelia Williams was shot to death in a courtyard at Westwind Apartments on Dawson Road where she lived.

Shakelia Williams was known as Kiki by all her neighbors and friends, who were shocked by her death.

Tina Overholts said she and another neighbor came to Kiki Williams aid when they saw her fall to the ground running from her apartment building.

Overholts said "All she did was lift up her arm and her head and told her to help her."

Overholts said she never heard a gunshot, but quickly knew she had been shot as they went to help her.

Overholts said "Only thing that we seen was that she got down to the last step. And was shot in the back of the head. She fell down on her stomach. We didn't see who done it."

Linda Rivers was in her apartment when she heard a gunshot, and went outside to investigate.

Rivers said "I looked to my left and there was a body laying over there. I said oh my God, oh my God. And they told me it was Kiki."

All her neighbors said Williams was a kind, friendly person. But she had a troubled past. She spent two years in prison for a 2004 cocaine possession sentence, and had been arrested at least twice for prostitution. She was wanted at the time of her death on a probation violation.

Police picked up 18 year old Tye Revills for questioning in her death, but so far no charges have been filed. He lived in an apartment on Nottingham Way, and neighbors tell us they would often see him walking around their apartments. They say they are shocked and saddened by Kiki's death.

Rivers said "She was a good girl, a good friend. We were going to start to be friends, but I guess her days were cut short. Sorry about it."

Friday crime scene investigators were combing the woods beside the apartment complex, looking for evidence as their investigation continues into Kiki Williams murder.

Overholts told us that Williams and her boyfriend were moving out of their apartment the night before she was killed. Police questioned her boyfriend, but released him without any charges.
