GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

A man has been charged in connection with several robberies in Greenville County and deputies say there have been similar robberies throughout the area.

Arturo Mendez Gomez has been charged with two counts of armed robbery in connection with two January robberies in Greenville County.

On Jan. 3, deputies said Tienda El Paso on Old Buncombe Road was robbed at gunpoint by an unmasked man. Deputies said the man demanded money and then fled with an undisclosed amount of cash.

On Jan. 11, Tienda Morelense on White Horse Road was robbed by two armed men, deputies said.

The suspects stole money and then fled in a dark colored SUV. While they were fleeing, an employee of the business got a gun and fired at the SUV, according to deputies.

Between Jan. 3 and Feb. 9 deputies said there have been similar robberies in Greenville County, Spartanburg County, Greenwood County, Buncombe County, and Henderson County.
