Young teenager allegedly stabbed in chest by older brother

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -

A 14-year-old boy was taken to the hospital after he said he was stabbed in the chest with a butcher knife by his 16-year-old brother.

This is the second time in a week someone was taken to the hospital after allegedly being stabbed by their own brother.

This incident happened at around 11 p.m. Thursday night, on the 1100 block of Winston Rd. The victim was transported to the Midtown Medical Center and remains in stable condition.

Columbus Police said the incident started when the two were playing cards and an argument broke out between them. The older brother apparently used the biggest knife from a butcher block in the kitchen. Police found the knife in the sink.

The 16-year-old is in police custody. He is charged with aggravated assault and family violence. He will be charged as a juvenile.
