VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) -

The Valdosta Metropolitan Organization is considering conducting a traffic safety study focusing on VSU.

Officials with the city of Valdosta have proposed the idea to the organization.
It comes after the recent death of a VSU student who was hit while crossing in a crosswalk near campus.

"They want to look at pedestrian safety, vehicular safety, bicycle safety around the entire campus," said MPO Coordinator Corey Hull.

"We've all been driving out there and either vehicles aren't paying attention to pedestrians or pedestrians aren't paying attention to vehicles," Hull continued.

The MPO will discuss the study further at their next meeting at 2 p.m. on March 11th. That meeting is open to the public.
