VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) -

VSU wants students to become more aware of the symptoms of a heart attack.

They also want to help encourage students to maintain better overall health. That's why VSU held a campus wellness fair today.

Students could have their cholesterol and BMI (Body Mass Index) checked and listen to a panel discussion about heart health.

"It's designed to make people informed of the symptoms of heart attacks," explained event coordinator and graduate assistant Geri Pepin. "And to make them learn to take care of their bodies; to make them learn to love their bodies and basically take care of their bodies."

A heart-healthy lunch was also served.
