Stanley Jones (Source: Richland County Sheriff's Department)
COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) -
Drawing upon his frustration of watching violent offenders repeatedly being granted bond, Sheriff Leon Lott says the latest "bold and violent" offender will be charged with murder when found.
Lott says 23-year-old Stanley Jones has been tied to at least seven incidents since he was released from jail following an armed robbery in Forest Acres in December 2013.
In one of the more recent incidents, investigators say Jones entered a home back on Feb. 4 in an attempt to steal drugs and money, but he ended up shooting a resident in the upper body before fleeing the scene.
The victim, 29-year-old Tresvon Coker, was transported to Palmetto Health Richland in serious condition where he died several days later.
In another incident, according to deputies, Jones walked into the Dollar General store on Two Notch Road and exchanged pleasantries with employees for 30 minutes before putting a knife to the throat of one of those employees and robbing the store.
Jones is also wanted in connection with three robberies at businesses in Columbia.
