SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

Veterans of military service are entitled towide array of financial and other benefits they may not know about.

Fox and Weeks Funeral Home is partnering withattorneys Smith Barid, LLC to present a series of free veterans' benefits workshopsin 2014 to help local veterans become more familiar with the programs and moneythat is available to them and their families.

They hosted their first workshop at theSavannah Square Senior Living Retirement Community at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday.

"One of the best things that a family can dois sit down with their loved one, create a written plan, have a writtendocument, so the family knows exactly what is supposed to happen and take placeat the time of the service, but also have that information just for familyhistorical purposes," said Fox and Weeks Family Services Director Chris Dickey.
