    The rate increased because of seasonal factors, such as the summer job loss among non-contract school workers and temporary layoffs, primarily in manufacturing. There were 60,500 jobs in Albany in June, down by 300, or 0.5 percent, from 60,800 in May. Most of the loss came in state government and the service-related industries.More >>
LEESBURG, GA (WALB) -

Lee County Commissioners are honoring local military men and women who have been wounded in combat.    

County leaders designated Tuesday, February 25, 2014 as a day to remember and recognize veterans who have received Purple Heart Medals.  

"Lee County appreciates the sacrifices and services of those people that have paid the  sacrifice of being wounded and the ultimate sacrifices those purple heart recipient. We want to always remember their contributions," said Rick Muggridge, Lee County Commissioner Chairman.       

The official Purple Heart Proclamation will be presented at Tuesday's county commission meeting.
