THOMASVILLE, GA (WALB) -

Golfers teed off on Monday at Glen Arven Country Club in Thomasville to support the Southwest Georgia Technical College foundation

The 12th annual tournament helps provide scholarships, emergency assistance for students, new equipment, and upgrades for the college. Organizers say it's vital for the foundation's work.

"This past semester Spring semester we awarded over $50,000 in scholarship funds for our students, so obviously this is a critical need and this is one of our major fund raisers to help support those initiatives," said Executive Director of Institutional Advancement Marketing and Public Relations Amy Maison.

Each team consisted of 4 members and incentives included gift certificates, prizes for top finishers, and raffle prizes.
