ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

So many bidders showed interest in a former Albany restaurant, now owned by the city, Wednesday's auction was extended.

The old L'Jua's on Radium Springs Road has been up for bid in an online auction since February 12th.

The former owner got city money for the business, and the city took over the building last year when she fell behind on payments.

The auction was set to close at 2:30pm Wednesday, but it was extended a few hours.

"The updates that we're receiving from Rowell Auctions is quite a bit of action on the property.  They had the showing last week, and they're excited," said Stephen Collier, Central Services Director.

The building was appraised at more than $1 Million dollars in 2012.  Money brought in by the auction will go to the Community and Economic Development Department.
