Multi-phase Resurfacing to Begin Monday on U.S. 82 Business

Reeves Construction Company is scheduled to begin a three-phase resurfacing project Monday, Feb. 17. Work will start on U.S. 82 Business/Oglethorpe Boulevard and will continue onto U.S. 19/Slappey Boulevard for a total of 12 miles.

Some resurfacing will be done at night to minimize the impact on local businesses and the traveling public.   Motorists should be alert for advance warning signs and should expect lane closures. Barrels and cones will channel traffic and drivers are reminded to slow down while entering and driving through work zones.

The phase dates (dependent upon weather) and locations are:

Phase 1 – begins Monday, Feb. 17, and is expected to take three weeks to complete; starts on U.S. 82 Business outside the city limits near the flyover and ends near the back entrance of Walmart. Work hours will be 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Phase 2 – scheduled to begin the first week of March and may take four to six weeks; starts where Phase 1 resurfacing stopped and ends at U.S. 19/Slappey Boulevard. Work hours will be 7 p.m. to 7 a.m.

Phase 3 – scheduled to begin in early or mid-April and is expected to take three weeks; starts where Phase 2 stopped and continues along U.S. 19 to the Liberty Expressway. Work hours will be 7 p.m. to 7 a.m.

When:          Beginning Monday, Feb. 17 and ending in approximately two months.

Where:         U.S. 82 Business (Oglethorpe Boulevard) and U.S. 19 (Slappey Boulevard).
