ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Sumter EMC crews are now working to restore power in the Augusta area. Some workers left this morning and others plan to head that way tonight.

Sumter EMC had a few outages during the last storm. If that happens again officials warn people using generators to keep them outside and away from electrical wiring.

"One of the most important safety tips is be very careful with standby generators. Don't run those indoors and keep those isolated from electrical wiring inside your house because it can be a hazard to your house and to the men out working on lines," says Senior VP of Operations Rene Smith.

He says also make sure you have plenty of food and water stored for emergencies.
