Driving through standing water

Standing water is common in many areas around here when we get heavy rain.

That can be a problem on paved roads, but it can be even more dangerous on a dirt road.

"If you see water standing across a dirt road do not go through it, it could wash your gullies in the road and you don't know how deep it is or what, so the safest practice is to turn around and go the other way," said Sheriff Jeff Hobby Worth County.

When warmer weather returns, remember it is not safe for children to play in standing water especially near a drainage system.
