LOWNDES CO., GA (WALB) -
Lowndes County deputies went to the Briarwood Motel Tuesday night looking for a man wanted in Thomas County.
They found Cleveland Eugene Watson. They also found ecstasy and arrested Watson, Amanda McKinney, and a 14 year-old. It all started with a tip that Watson was here.
"That information was passed on to our deputies who went to the motel," said Lowndes County Sheriff's Office Lieutenant Stryde Jones.
"Once they did," Jones continued, "they I.D'd themselves, spoke with some of the occupants of the motel room and asked if Cleveland Watson was there. They were initially told that was not the case, but they let the deputies in."
All three suspects were hiding in the room. Deputies recovered 17 grams of ecstasy they say someone tried to flush down the toilet.
"They found Mr. Watson hiding under the bed. They also found another person, the female located in the bathroom along with the juvenile who's 14 years old. In that same bathroom, they found a quantity of ecstasy inside the toilet where it looked like someone had tried to flush it down the toilet," Jones explained.
The ecstasy has a street value of about $350 dollars.
Jones says the drug isn't that common in Lowndes County, but he's glad deputies were able to get it off the streets.
"To be alert enough to realize that there was other criminal activity going on and to follow up on it and handle it properly, that's tremendous work," Jones stated.
Both Watson and McKinney remain in the Lowndes County Jail tonight and are charged with possession of ecstasy.
The 14 year-old remains in a juvenile detention center and is also charged with possession of ecstasy.
