DOT sends trucks to North GA

The Department of Transportation is keeping an eye out for icing on south Georgia highways, but they don't expect major problems.

So far,  the regional headquarters in Tifton hasn't gotten reports of icing in our area. They have crews ready if problems develop.

The main focus remains north Georgia.  Eleven plow trucks from our area are now at work there.

"In addition to that, we have 18 motograders that are available, we have plenty of salt, rock mixture for the counties to use to treat icing as it comes up," said Nita Birmingham of the Tifton Department of Transportation.

The DOT has more workers on standby in case extra people are needed.
