ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

The Dougherty Unit of the Georgia Forestry Commission has sent workers to Augusta to help them brace for severe winter weather.

Chief Ranger Tom Lambert said his office sent a chainsaw crew Tuesday for a forecasted icing event. He said two other crews from Macon were also sent earlier this week, and they're prepared to stay as long as needed.

We'll bring you more on their efforts to help North Georgia later on WALB.
