APD asks citizens to remove valuables from cars

ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Albany Police are asking for your help to stop a rash of car break-ins by removing valuables from their cars.

Most of the cars were unlocked.

Thieves are looking for guns, purses, wallets. ad other valuables.

Police say car owners who believe they can hide their valuables from thieves are mistaken.

"I know a lot of you say it cost just as much to replace the window. I prefer leaving my car unlocked. If you are going to do that, don't leave anything in your car that is valuable." said Albany Police Department Sgt. Edward Heath.

Investigators say they have some suspects but so far no arrests have been made with the recent break-ins.

Albany Police ask anyone seeing any suspicious activity to report it to them immediately.
