Albany Public Works prepares in case of icy roads

Even though the winter storm is not expected to bring ice to Albany, city leaders are preparing anyway.

Albany Public Works crews brought in another 300 tons of sand Tuesday.

They already had 150 tons on hand.

They want to make sure they've got plenty if roads and bridges get icy.

They'll also stay in touch with the D-O-T as the winter storm moves in.

"We can stay in contact throughout the night if either one of us need assistance," said Streets Division Superintendent. "I'll be monitoring the bridges throughout Wednesday night. And if we have a problem we'll go into action."

City workers used street sweepers and jet vacs to clean the roads and storm drains in preparation for heavy rain tonight and Wednesday.
