Authorities ask for help locating missing Shelby County teens

    The rate increased because of seasonal factors, such as the summer job loss among non-contract school workers and temporary layoffs, primarily in manufacturing. SHELBY COUNTY, AL (WBRC) -

Shelby County authorities are asking for the public's help in locating two teenage boys believed to be runaways. The teens are now listed as "missing/endangered" due to the inclement wintry weather.

Dalton Michael Stern, 14, and Jacob Ryan Sweeney, also 14, both went missing from their homes on Monday. The Shelby County Sheriff's Office believes they left their homes by choice and are likely together.

Stern was last seen around 4:45 p.m. Monday, Feb. 10 in the area of Brook Highland Parkway. He's described as a a white male, 5' 08" tall, weighing approximately 130 pounds with blond hair and blue eyes. He was last seen wearing a black hooded shirt and blue jeans.

Sweeney was last seen around 3 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 10 also in the Brook Highland Parkway area. He is described as a white male, 5' 10" tall, weighing approximately 160 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a black sweatshirt and blue jeans.

Investigators have been looking for the teens since Monday and are now asking for the public's help in finding them.

Due to the inclement weather, authorities are reporting the teens as "missing-endangered" through the Alabama Criminal Justice Information Center, National Crime Information Center, and the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
