JEFFERSON COUNTY, AL (WBRC) -

Two men have been arrested for robbing a convenience store in west Jefferson County last week. One of the suspects admitted that he was armed with a pellet gun when he robbed the store.

Jason Hubbard, 32, of Adamsville, went into Birmingport Grocery, pointed the pellet gun at the clerk and demanded money, according to the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office. The robbery happened just before 3 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 7.

Hubbard took the money and fled the scene in a tan SUV. A vehicle matching that description was later pulled over on Shady Grove Road. Deputies soon realized the car that was pulled over was the same one captured in surveillance footage of the robbery.

Hubbard and the car's driver, 33-year-old William Green of Adamsville, were both taken into custody for questioning. Hubbard admitted to the robbery and Green did not answer any questions, Chief Deputy Randy Christian said.

Both Hubbard and Green have been charged with first degree robbery and second degree theft of property. They are in the Jefferson County jail on bonds of $75,000 each.
