An Albany attorney officially kicked off his campaign for chairman of the Dougherty County commission Tuesday.
Chris Cohilas was surrounded by supporters Tuesday afternoon in downtown Albany as he discussed why he's qualified for the position.
"I think I bring energy and understanding. I understand this community and all components of this community because I established a broad range of relationships through my professional and private careers," said Cohilas.
Cohilas is the former Chief Assistant District Attorney for Dougherty County and is now in private practice. Current Dougherty District Attorney Greg Edwards also spoke, endorsing Cohilas.
The kickoff comes just a week after he announced his intentions in a news release, and following current chairman Jeff "Bodine" Sinyard said he would not seek re-election.
Current Chairman Jeff Sinyard is not running for re-election. MOnday current commissioner Gloria Gaines announced she's running for the position. They'll meet in the Democratic primary May 20th.
