Dougherty County School Board disciplines educators

ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Three educators at an Albany high school are being disciplined for changing grades.
Monday night the Dougherty County School Board voted to take five days of pay away from Westover High School Principal William Chunn, though he will not miss any time from work. Teacher Kevin Martin is suspended for five days without pay.
Assistant Principal Brian Collier received a formal reprimand.

Interim Superintendent David Mosely says they were involved with changing the failing grades of more than 120 students in Martin's World History classes.

"The procedure was just wrong, I don't know how to say it any other way, we have some excellent people that could have counseled and that didn't happen. [It] sort of went from bad to worse," said Interim Superintendent Dr. David Mosely.

Dr. Mosely says a teacher who blew the whistle on the scandal could also be punished. He says Kevin Fretwell talked with a reporter about the scandal instead of reporting it to the system.

He plans to meet with Fretwell Tuesday to discuss his future.
