SYLVESTER, GA (WALB) -

The Walmart Hiring Center in Sylvester started accepting applications Monday. Job seekers waited in line for hours to put in their application.

Many say the road to finding a job has been tough.

Store Manager Jennifer Calhoun sent pictures of job applicants lined up around the Walmart Hiring Center in Sylvester before 8:00 this morning.

"We had such a great turnout, probably over 150 people out here waiting this morning to put applications in," said Store Manager Jennifer Calhoun.

David Walker and Tieya Daniels anxiously waited for several hours. They say looking for a job has been tough.

"It's pretty dry out here and we just got through with the holiday season and a lot of people don't hire during that season," said Walker. "I've actually been looking for a job about a year been trying to find a job and it's been very, very hard, I haven't been able to find nothing," said Daniels.

Daniels says she jumped at the opportunity when she heard Walmart was hiring. "I need to be the first one in line so I can get me a job out there."

Daniels says getting the job would help her out financially. "Bills, I need summer clothes, new summer clothes. I done gained a little weight, I need a lot of things."

Calhoun says to be a part of the Walmart team you must possess these qualities. " I look for very friendly positive people, outgoing, those with a great sense of urgency that want to come and be a part of my team."

David Walker says he has what she's looking for. "Yeah, I always try to stay positive, I like to keep the energy up."

Daniels and Walker are glad Walmart is bringing jobs to Sylvester, and they hope their qualifications will catch Calhoun's eye as she reviews applications next week to begin the interview process.

The Walmart Hiring Center in Sylvester on 114 N. Main Street will continue accepting applications this week from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon.
