It appears the Albany Panthers will take the field in 2014 after all.
Owner Rod Chappell says in a statement the team is working with the Professional Indoor Football League on a financing plan that would allow the team to play this season.
"The team and the PIFL are in the process of developing a bridge gap financing structure this week including a trip from league officials to Albany," Chappell says in the statement.
The plan would require a schedule change, moving the home game scheduled for March 22 against Nashville to June 7.
"Assuming all details of the financing structure are confirmed this week, the Panthers season would kick off at home against the 2013 PIFL Champion Alabama Hammers on Saturday, April 5," Chappell says.
The team says more details and information will come later this week.
