ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

An Albany woman had her first fundraiser to help raise money for her kidney transplant.

Delois Young has what's called End-stage renal disease, a form of kidney disease, and is awaiting a kidney transplant. She held a garage sale Saturday morning to help pay for uninsured costs. Several people stopped by to show support by giving donations, and to share their stories of health challenges.

"It's warming to know that people actually watched and listened and took the time to think about someone other than self. As far as my mom go, she's a talker. So she's willing to talk to anybody about her situation as far as kidney disease and how it can go uncontrolled," said Crystal Porter, daughter of Delois Young.

The money raised will go directly into an account for her set up under a national organization called Help, Hope, Live.
