(KCRG/CNN) - A newborn who disappeared from a Wisconsin home in the middle of the night has been found alive.
Six-day-old Kayden Powell was reported missing early Thursday.
A police officer found him this morning swaddled in blankets inside a tote bag at an Iowa gas station.
The baby appears to be doing well.
"About 10 this morning we found the baby alongside the station. In cooperation with Cedar County Sheriff's Department, the FBI, West Branch Police Department," Chief Mike Horihan said. "It was a combined effort. And fortunately, the fact that we're working well together and cooperated, I think led to the successful conclusion of locating the missing baby. The baby seemed to be healthy, breathing fine, conscious and responsive. The baby is being evaluated at a medical facility."
Kayden's mother, Brianna Marshall, 18, told police she woke up Thursday morning and found the baby missing from his bassinet.
Kristen Smith, 31, has been charged with kidnapping.
She is the woman who was arrested Thursday in Iowa on an unrelated fraud warrant.
She is currently being held in an Iowa jail.
